Canon Pixma MP450 Inkjet Printer

The Canon Pixma MP450 is a solid multifunction printing solution for the home. It is PC and MAC compatible and scans/copies at a solid 48 bit with 1,200 x 2400 dpi resolution. The color printing is at a max 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi while black and white is at decent 600 x 600 dpi. The text and graphics on the Pixma MP450 are fair, while photo quality is strong. Printing is on the slower side with an average top speed of 19 pages per minute. The Pixma MP450 can also work computer free with slots for all major memory cards and a PictBridge port for directly connecting to your digital camera, and a modest 1.9 inch color LCD screen for viewing and editing. The printer uses a 2 ink cartridge system with 4 colors (PG-40 Black and Cl-41 Color Tricolor). Note that since they’re not individual cartridges they are less efficient and might cost more in the long run. Overall, the Pixma MP450 offers a good balance between features and price and for $20 more than the MP170 it is worth it.
