Canon s830d Inkjet Printer

The Canon S830 is a higher end inkjet photo printer for homes and small offices but falls short of providing cost justifying quality. The PC and MAC compatible S830D has a solid resolution of up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi; however the test is at best fair and the graphics and photos have a sloppy muddled quality towards them keeping them at mediocre ratings as well. The S830 makes these fine prints at a middle of the road average top speed of 16 pages per minute. The printer has front slots for most major memory cards and a slot for directly connecting and printing from select digital cameras but no LCD for true computer free viewing and printing. The printer uses 6 individual ink cartridges: black (BCI-6Bk), cyan (BCI-6C), yellow (BCI-6Y), magenta (BCI-6M), photo magenta (BCI-6PM), and photo cyan (BCI-6PC). The inclusion of the two photo ink cartridges allow for greater quality and detail in photo prints while the individual cartridges make printing more efficient and cost effective. Overall, despite the slightly higher end price, the Canon S830 offers only middling performance and features.
