HP DeskJet 3740 Printer Review
The HP Deskjet 3740 inkjet printer is a decent choice for budget conscious families and students looking for simple, everyday printing. The DeskJet 3740 prints at a solid 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi resolution. While the text is of high quality, in the case of photos and graphics there is some fading of color, shadow errors, and banding, although nothing less than what is expected of a printer in this price range. The printer uses two cartridges an HP 27 Black Inkjet and an HP 28 Tri-Color Inkjet. The non-individual color ink cartridges might lead to wasted ink and more spending in the future since one has to throw the entire cartridge away after one color depletes. Printing is a bit on the slow side as well, with less than 4 minutes for a 7 x 10 photograph and a max text and color printing rate of 10 pages per minute. One thing to note is that the printer doesn’t come standard with a USB cable to connect or a lack ink cartridge. Overall, though despite these drawbacks, the high quality text and fair graphic printing, simplicity, and price still make this a home inkjet printer worth considering for light or everyday use.
