The HP Deskjet 3843 inkjet printer is a decent option for the price conscious consumer. The PC and Mac compatible DeskJet 3843 prints at an impressive resolution of 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi. The print quality is good across the board with text, graphics, and photos. While there are some color inconsistencies and loss of detail in finer jobs, there is nothing less than what is expected of a printer in this price range. This inkjet printer uses two cartridges an HP 27 Black Inkjet and an HP 28 Tri-Color Inkjet. The non-individual color ink cartridges might lead to wasted ink and more spending in the future since one has to throw the entire cartridge away after one color depletes. Printing speed is adequate at a max text and color printing rate of 13 pages per minute, an acceptable rate. Overall, the DeskJet 3843 provides decent, solid service for those looking for uncomplicated, affordable, no frills printing.
