HP DeskJet 3845 Printer Review

The HP DeskJet 3845 Color Inkjet Printer is a budget priced inkjet with a greater emphasis on photos. While most sub $100 color inkjets are merely provide good text and graphics with sub par photos, the DeskJet 3845 offers a higher quality option for photos. The PC and MAC compatible printer prints at the max 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi resolution for good text and graphics, however if you want to give your photos an extra push it has the option of switching out the black ink cartridge (HP 27) with the special tree color photo ink cartridge (HP 58) to go along with your tricolor ink cartridge (HP 28). Of course all these extra ink cartridges are expensive and since they aren’t individual they may not be as efficient and cost effective, but the 6 ink option is nice. Aside from that feature, the rest is fairly average with slow speeds of about 15 pages per minute max for text and graphics and over 12 minutes for printing 8 x 10 prints on high. Overall the DeskJet 3845 is a simple budget model with an extra photo option, a decent buy for students, beginners, and the casual user.
