The HP DeskJet 3915 inkjet printer is an affordable color printer for families and students. The, PC and Mac compatible, DeskJet 3915 prints at a solid 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi resolution. The text quality is fair with some detail loss involving smaller and finer prints; the graphics and photos are surprisingly sharper than expected for a budget model with brighter colors. While far from business presentation quality it is more than enough for everyday printings. The printer uses two inkjet cartridges; an HP 27 Black Inkjet and an HP 28 Tri-Color Inkjet. The non-individual color ink cartridges might lead to wasted ink and more spending in the future since one has to throw the entire cartridge away after one color depletes. The printer is also tends to hog more ink to get the more vivid prints. Printing speed is adequate at a max text and color printing rate of 13 pages per minute, an acceptable rate. Overall, the DeskJet 3915 is a decent, budget printer, but be wary of increasing ink prices.
