The HP DeskJet 460c is a follow up to the HP DeskJet 450 line of high quality portable printers and provides a marked improvement in portability and performance. The 4.5 lb DeskJet 460 prints 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi resolution prints of solid quality across the board maintaining crisp, sharp text and graphics along with vivid photos up to 8.5 x 11. The DeskJet 460c uses a 2 ink cartridge system with 4 colors (HP 94 Black Vivera Inkjet and HP 95 Vivera Tricolor Inkjet) but the black can be manually replaced with a photo ink (HP 99 Vivera Photo Inkjet or HP 100 Gray Photo Inkjet) for six colors, something that is usually found in the larger inkjets. One thing to note however, since they’re not individual ink cartridges they are less efficient and might cost more in the long run. Connectivity wise there is are memory slots most major memory cards and a PictBridge port for directly connecting to your digital camera for computer free printing. The print speeds, which were the biggest flaws in the 450s, are a relatively fast 16 pages per minute. While standard rechargeable batteries would have been a nice addition this is still a solid base model and a true portable printing option that might justify the cost.
