The HP Photosmart 475 is a handy little photo printer that provides decent exclusive photo printing with convenient portability. The Photosmart 475’s main strengths are with its small size and ease of use. The lunch box sized printer can connect to a PC or MAC; but it can also work standalone via its slots for all major memory cards, PictBridge support for directly connecting your digital camera, a color 2.5 inch LCD screen with minor editing features, and a useful 1.5 GB internal hard drive for storing more pictures. The 475 also has a remote control, optional wireless adaptor, and an optional battery. The trade off for portability is somewhat in the prints. The Photosmart 475 prints borderless 4 x 6 and 5 x 7 color photos at 4,800 x 1,200 dpi with slightly less vivid colors than non portable photo printers. The printer uses a single Tricolor HP 95 Vivera ink cartridge and accepts optional Gray Photo HP 100 Vivera ink cartridge. Overall the Photosmart 475’s portability and features outweigh the only decent print quality, making it a good buy.
