HP PhotoSmart 7450 Inkjet Printer

The HP Photosmart 7450 is an inkjet photo printer that would best fit students and families. The Photosmart 7450 offers good quality color photo prints of up to 4,800 x 1,200 dpi. The text is fairly sharp; the graphics are a bit cloudy with colors but fair, and the photos, as expected, turn out the strongest. It is PC and MAC compatible and has slots for all major memory cards for instant viewing on the computer. PictBridge support or an LCD screen would have been nice but for the price this is setup is more than adequate. The printing speeds are a bit on the slower side with an average top speed of 12 pages per minute. The printer uses a 2 ink cartridge system with 4 colors (HP 56 Black Inkjet and HP 57 Tricolor Inkjet) but the black can be manually replaced with a photo ink (HP 58 Photo Inkjet or HP 59 Gray Photo Inkjet) for six colors. Since these are not individual cartridges they are less efficient and might cost more in the long run. While not providing the most cutting edge of performance the Photosmart 7450 is still a reliable, solid choice for home inkjet printing.
