Lexmark Z45 Inkjet Printer

The Lexmark Z45 is an average inkjet printer for the price conscious family or student. PC and MAC compatible, the Z45 offers adequate text and graphics for most home and school printing. The photo printing however fares poorer with sloppy colors and occasional pixilation. The Z45 prints at a resolution of up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi. Although the design is simple and easy to use, a PictBridge port or memory card slot would have been appreciated. The Z45 prints at a fast average top speed of 21 pages per minute and uses a tricolor ink cartridge (15M0120) and a black (12A1970). However, given that they are inefficient non-individual color ink cartridges and the printer’s overall high rate of ink usage, the ink prices will negate the printer’s deal. Overall, the Z45’s speed, decent performance, and price might make it an option for budget conscious families and students but keep in mind future costs.
