Lexmark Z816 Inkjet Printer

The Lexmark Z816 is a solid inkjet printer option for the budget minded family or student. PC and MAC compatible, the Z816 offers good quality text and graphics with only minor errors. The photo printing is also fairly solid and improves with the addition of a photo ink cartridge. The Z816 prints at a resolution of up to 4,800 x 1,200 dpi. It has an interesting sensor inside to help line up prints and prevent paper jams, although a PictBridge port or memory card slot would have been a more welcome addition. The Z816 prints at a decent average top speed of 18 pages per minute and uses a tricolor ink cartridge (20 / 15M0120) and a black (50 / 17G0050) with the option of swapping out the black with a photo tricolor ink cartridge (90 / 12A1990) for 6 color photo printing. Be wary however, since non individual cartridges are more inefficient and might lead to higher costs in the long run. Overall, the Z816 is defiantly a worthwhile option for budget conscious families and students looking for a solid and reliable inkjet printer.
