Downloading a printer driver

A driver is software used for communication between a computer and a printer or other device. Drivers are commonly associated with fixing compatibility problems, supporting new technology, increasing performance and optimizing communications.

If you upgrade your computer or operating system, or if you purchase a printer model that has an outdated software CD, you may need to download the latest printer driver online. Most printer manufacturers have a section on their web site specifically for downloading updated printer drivers.

Apple Printer Drivers: Apple (also, here is the macOS guide )

Brother Printer Drivers: Brother—Navigate to the appropriate printer from the Product Group drop-down menu.

Canon Printer Drivers: Canon—Enter your product name directly or choose from a list.

Dell Printer Drivers: Dell—Enter service tag number if you have it, if not, you can have the website detect your printer or select the appropriate category.

Epson Printer Drivers: Epson—Enter the name of your printer or choose from the appropriate category.

HP Printer Drivers: HP—Select the "Drivers and Downloads" option and either enter your product name or have the website detect the product.

Kodak Printer Drivers: Kodak—Select the "Printer" category and hit the Search button to bring up all the pages.

Lexmark Printer Drivers: Lexmark—Go through the 4-step process to find the appropriate version of printer drivers and support.

Samsung Printer Drivers: Samsung—Enter the name of your printer or select the "Printers" link from under the Office category. Then use the drop-down to locate the appropriate page.

Many times if you are looking for drivers, find the page for your printer or multifunction on the manufacturer's website. There will usually be a support tab or link somewhere on the product page. You can also try any of the websites listed below:

Microsoft Drivers: Find information on installing printer drivers.  To reinstall the printer, select  Add a printer or scanner and then select the name of the printer you want to add. If Windows doesn’t automatically find a new driver after the printer is added, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their installation instructions.
