Samsung Introduces Two New Laser Printers
October 7, 2015
A few weeks back, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced two new laser units in their Printer Xpress line. One is a multifunction unit, the Printer Xpress M2875DW, and one is a single-function unit, the Printer Xpress M2825DW. Both units are monochrome only and designed for “consumers and small business users looking for high-speed performance and easy-to-use functionality, including mobile printing and enterprise level security, as well as low operating costs”.
Dave Das, Senior Vice President, Consumer Electronics Marketing, Consumer Business Division, Samsung Electronics America, said, "Today, we’re often juggling laptops, tablets and smartphones all at once, managing our busy lives at the office, in our homes and everywhere in between. Having the ability to easily print from any of these devices on demand is not only extremely convenient, it’s often a necessity. As consumers and business users alike are increasingly printing from mobile devices, Samsung printers make it easy to do so, resulting in a hassle-free experience from anywhere."
The Samsung Printer Xpress M2875DW is aimed anyone from college students to small business owners and everyone in between with its ability to print complex jobs quickly and easily with its fast print engine featuring speeds of up to 29 ISO ppm. Behind the speed is a Cortex™-A5 core processor with 128MB of memory built right in.
As with virtually all new Samsung printers, print quality is greatly boosted with their Rendering Engine for Clean Page (ReCP) technology. With ReCP, thin lines are more defined and edges are sharpened meaning the text and images always appear crisp and clean regardless of paper size or weight as well as the complexity of the file.
Keeping the environment in mind, the M2875DW gives users the option to reduce toner and paper usage with its One-Touch Eco Button. With the Eco Driver, which was recognized by Buyer’s Laboratory (BLI) as an Outstanding Achievement in Innovation Award when it debuted a few years ago, helps to reduce the amount of toner used by as much as 20 percent. The driver allows users to opt to remove images or bold text they don’t need, making sure that only the necessary toner is used.
The Eco Mode when it is enabled on the M2875DW allows for two-up printing putting two pages on the same side of a single sheet of paper, automatically skips blank pages, and prints on both sides of the page. Toner cartridges for the device are available in both standard and high-capacity so users can opt for whichever best suits their printing demands.
Keeping the mobile user in mind, Samsung offers a variety of wireless printing options which are compatible with the newest devices. With the Samsung Mobile Print app—a free download for both Android and iOS users—a print job can be sent to any Samsung printer located on the same Wi-Fi network quickly and easily with no need to download additional software/drivers. With Wi-Fi Direct printing, there can be as many as five devices connected to the printer without needing an access point, allowing businesses, families, and friends to have simultaneous access to the same printer. Last, but not least, users can print, scan, and copy in one device by using the M2875DW.
The Samsung Multifunction Xpress M2875DW is available now, on sale, for $129.99.
The Xpress M2825DW, as is noted above, is a single-function monochrome laser printer. It shares the same fast print speeds, duplex printing, and wireless connectivity as the M2875DW, with slightly larger paper capacity. It, too, is currently available from Samsung on sale for $79.99.
