Xerox Introduces Several New Ways to Print and Share Documents Working Remotely
November 11, 2015
Late last week, one of the leaders of the global printing and mobile printing industry, Xerox, announced several new tools for mobile devices and multifunction printers which provide remote workers access to the same workflows they would use working in an office. Included in these are ways for workers to securely send documents from their mobile devices directly to colleagues in the cloud or to almost any printer or MFP.
Jim Rise, senior vice president, Office and Solutions Business Group, Xerox, said, "Working on the go often brings unneeded complexity and workflow jams like when you can?t connect to a local printer or your company?s cloud repositories. These five easy-to-use tools help break down the barriers of working remotely because employees shouldn?t see diminished productivity when they?re outside the four walls of their office."
The five new tools are as follows:
Xerox Mobile Print v3.0 — The latest version of Xerox Mobile Print Cloud now incorporates the “@PrintByXerox” feature which makes it possible for mobile users to print securely from any Xerox network-connected MFP that is close to you. This application runs on the device’s Extensible Interface Platform.
Xerox Mobile Print Solution — Users can print from their device to any network printer, regardless of the brand. It seamlessly integrates with Apple AirPrint and is available on premise or in the cloud.
Xerox Wireless Print Solutions Adapter — This tool provides wireless and mobile printing to legacy printers and MFPs that do not have the functionality built-in. Small and compact, it resides next to the device and can be configured to work with Google Cloud Print, Wi-Fi Drect, NFC tap-to-pair, and Apple AirPrint.
Mobile Link App — The popular solution from Xerox now includes support for both Android and iOS devices and increases the cloud capabilities available. As an example, a sales professional can opt to scan or take a photo of invoices from their mobile device and automatically send it to the accounts receivable department’s SharePoint site, file a copy in their DropBox account, and email it to their manager, all at the same time.
PrintSafe Software — This new software developed by Xerox provides authentication security for their MFP devices. Xerox points to research by Quocirca that shows 63 percent of the businesses they surveyed had been the victims of one or more print-related data breaches. PrintSafe software is compatible with most industry standard card readers. Affordable and convenient, PrintSafe can run on both Xerox and non-Xerox devices, manages user access to MFPs, and can be used to print anywhere and anytime to any MFP included in a customer’s network.
In terms of availability, Xerox Mobile Print Cloud v3.0, Xerox Mobile Print Solution, and Xerox PrintSafe Software are available now everywhere in the world. The Xerox Mobile Link App is slated to become available by the end of December from either the Google Play or the Apple App Store. Finally, the Xerox Wireless Print Solutions Adapter will be available for purchase from the Xerox eStore, http:buy.xerox.com by the end of December as well.
