Canon Unveils Five New imageCLASS MFPs
September 12, 2015
Earlier this week Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced five new models in their popular and successful imageCLASS line of laser printers for businesses and home offices. Among them are four color laser MFPs including the Color imageCLASS MF729Cdw and MF726Cdw which are part of the MF700 series as well as the MF628Cw and MF624Cw which represent the MF600 series. These four units replace the previously released and now discontinued Color imageCLASS MF8580Cdw and MF8280Cw units and expand the number of devices available for the intended audience. The fifth unit, the imageCLASS MF217w model slots into the current MF200 series as its fifth unit, expanding the selection of printers for users even further. All of the units are designed to aid modern offices and home offices with better wireless, mobile, and cloud connectivity.
Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc., said "In today's connected world, professional users are accessing more information in more places, and it is imperative that a printer enhances—but not complicates—this process. The new Color imageCLASS models in particular have been designed to work for customers by connecting with most of today's mobile devices, offering the most modern connectivity methods and enabling many customers to scan documents directly into their popular cloud storage systems, with the added simplicity of a new color touch interface."
The debut of the MF700 and MF600 Series mark the first units from Canon’s imageCLASS series of devices to offer Wi-Fi Direct connectivity, removing the need of a router or existing Wi-Fi network for users to connect their devices to a printer. Additionally, new and improved scanning is available through software from Canon called MF Scan Utility. The software allows users to now scan and import documents directly to Dropbox™ and Evernote. Each of the four new color devices are all compatible with the Canon PRINT Business application which is now available as a free download from both the Apple App Store and Google Play store. The MF729Cdw and the MF276Cdw take mobile printing a step further by including support for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology which is integrated into Canon PRINT Business and allows users to print documents by simply tapping an NFC-supported phone or tablet to the printer.
Color imageCLASS MF700 Series

Monochrome printing on both units is rated for up to 21 ISO ppm with the ability to also scan, copy, and fax output. The automatic document feeder scan both single and double-sided output and can handle up to 50 sheets at a time. Paper capacity for each of the MFPs is 300 pages which is split between a 250-sheet capacity main input tray and 50-sheet capacity multipurpose tray. Other features on both devices include the ability to scan files directly to an email or shared folder, use a secure print mode with a password needed to release the job, and print with either Mopria™ Print Service or via Google Cloud Print. Both have a USB slot that will allow the printing from and scanning to USB keys of PDFs, JPEGs and TIFFs.
