January 13, 2016
Debuting back in July 2015 along with a laser multifunction unit, the C480FN/FW, the Printer Xpress C430W is a single-function color laser unit aimed at small and home offices. Nice and compact at 15" x 12.2" x 8.3" and weighing about 22 lbs., the unit can easily be placed on a desk without infringing too much even on limited space. It is capable of print speeds of up to 19 ISO ppm for mono pages and up to 4 ISO ppm for color. It features a simple and user-friendly display consisting of four buttons including power, cancel, one-touch Eco mode, and one-touch WPS (wireless) setup.
Definitely one of the strengths of the Printer Xpress C430W is the wide assortment of connectivity options available to its users. As we mentioned above, it could be placed on a desk and serve as a standalone unit connected to a PC/laptop via a USB cable. For users that want the added convenience of wireless printing, the unit supports Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity and can be easily be setup on a network with the WPS button on the control panel on the front right corner of the printer. These first two options are really only the beginning, however. Keeping in mind the needs of mobile users, the C430W works with both the Samsung Mobile Print app (available on iOS, Android, Windows, and Kindle Fire platforms) as well as comes ready for Google Cloud Printing and Apple AirPrint. A further option is to use NFC (near field communication) Tap and Print functionality that enables Android users to tap their device on the printer to authenticate and print.
Because of its intended user base of small and home office workers, the Printer Xpress C430 has a standard input capacity of up to 150 sheets at a time. It unfortunately lacks automatic two-sided printing, but the device includes driver supported manual duplex output. Aiding in its processing of print jobs is the 400MHz processor and 64MB of internal memory in addition to its ReCP (Rendering Engine for Clean Page) technology and Smart CMS (Smart Color Management System. Both of these latter features help ensure crisp, clear text and sharper images and characters ensuring output always looks its best. The maximum monthly duty cycle is rated for up to 20,000 pages, which should be sufficient for its user base.
For printing, the Samsung Printer Xpress C430W uses four individual toner cartridges. These include black, cyan, magenta, and yellow each of which is available in a standard, though plentiful, version only which provides up to 1,500 pages for black and 1,000 pages for each color. The unit ships with starter cartridges that yield up to 700 pages black and 500 for each color which should be more than sufficient to get someone started.
The Samsung Printer Xpress C430W is currently available from the company for$229.99 as well as Amazon via the link on the top left. For more information on the unit, visit the product page on the Samsung website.
