Brother Launches New Set of Business-Class Lasers
February 4, 2016
This past Monday, Brother continued to make news with the announcement of new laser printers for mid- and large-sized businesses. Included among the products are both monochrome single-function and multifunction laser devices..
Steve Feldstein Brother International's Director of Marketing–Business Laser & Scanner Products, stated"As the focal point of our new Brother Workhorse Series, these products demonstrate our leadership in delivering business solutions. These machines are part of the most significant laser launch in our company's history, building on our legacy of quality, dependability, and business-focus."
Brother believes that their new solutions meet all the needs encountered by today’s offices. All of the new models incorporate ways to easily integrate mobile devices, match the changes in workgroup printing, and continue assist employees to work efficiently and remain as productive as possible. The OEM points to results of a recent self-commissioned study which found that the poor allocation of office devices can lead to a significant waste of time ( > 4,000 hours) and close to $130,000 (annually) in wasted money stemming from long walks to-and-from copiers and printers.
To assist companies in minimizing waste of time and resources, Brother helps companies determine a balanced deployment strategy for devices with a methodology that assesses current practices and uses results to find the optimal configuration of devices proportionate to the actual needs of a particular office. With their shared "pods", as Brother refers to them, users have access to the appropriate monochrome and color single and multifunction devices within 25-35 feet. Mobile users can easily configure their devices to gain access to the correct units as well, adding to their convenience and value.
All of the new models have been dubbed by Brother as "business-durable", allowing companies even with high volume printing needs to go about their work without worrying about overworking a printer or multifunction device. Built on the success and technology of earlier models, the all of the new machines have been designed to provide the most robust construction yet along with fully integrated enterprise-level security features, scalable paper handling, and high-volume consumables that deliver a low cost-per-page. All of these features, lessen the burden on IT help desks and increase printer uptime, meaning businesses are able to run as efficiently as possible.
As part of the new launch, Brother has identified one single-function printer, the Brother HL-L6400DW and one multifunction device, the MFC-L6900DW AIO, as the flagship models for their Workhorse Series. Each of these two models offer ultra-fast print speeds of up to 52 ISO ppm, and the MFC-L6900DW scans one-sided at 50 images per minute and two-sided at 100 images per minute.
The super high-yield ink cartridges toner cartridge which is compatible with the new devices is capable of printing up to 12,000 pages. For an even lower cost per page, users can opt for one of the highest page yields we have seen on the market at a 20,000 page capacity. Additionally, users can convert each of these into floor models by adding a large-capacity tower paper tray which can bring overall input volume to five paper trays holding 2,650 sheets. The single-function HL-L6400DW can be equipped with a mailbox/stacker/sorter which brings its capacity go 1,050 total sheets.
In terms of security, the new models are designed to ensure only those who are supposed to see or access a document or other piece of information are the ones that can do so. Also built in is an NFC card reader that allows users to walk up and authenticate via an NFC card or badge to release their print jobs as well as access appropriate machine functions.
Feldstein also remarked, "The changing workplace and business work patterns require different workflow management. This monochrome laser line-up represents the strongest, broadest, and most business-focused feature range in Brother's history, and is in-tune with the needs of today's fast paced business environment."
In addition their own analysis of the machines, Brother has had the new machines tested by Buyers Laboratory, a recognized independent authority. The organization concluded based on their analysis that the machines were reliable, even with high-volume printing. Marlene Orr, BLI’s Director, Office Equipment Product Analysis, noted, "Even during peak periods, users won't see any noticeable slowdowns in output speeds".
Orr continued, "For example, HL-L6400DW and MFC-L6900DW users could save an average of 19 to 29 percent over three years. The smartphone-like interface on the Touchscreen models reduces the user's learning curve, and NFC connectivity eliminates guesswork for mobile printing, offers greater security, and a quick link to troubleshooting information."
The company also praised Brother Web Connect, which combined with the new high-speed scanning ability will make it even easier to share content and work together in the cloud.
Each of the new units in the Brother Workhorse series of printers, AIOs, and dedicated scanners which considerably broaden the company's product portfolio are available exclusively through the Brother Authorized Partner Program as well as direct market resellers, dealers, and office superstore contract resellers. In total, there are five new units in the series which is set to continue to support the 21st century needs of businesses.
