HP Inc. Unveils New Portfolio of Business-centric Printers
March 11, 2016
Earlier this week in Lisbon, Portugal, HP Inc. made headlines by announcing over 15 new printers across their PageWide, OfficeJet Pro, and LaserJet printers as well as a new MPS solution, Secure Managed Print Services. Included among the new products are:
According to Enrique Lores, president, Imaging and Printing, HP Inc., "We’re reinventing printing for every business—large or small. Traditionally vendors have spoken about ‘Good, Better, Best’ where most customers have to compromise, but today we are promising ‘Best, Best, Best’ allowing our customers to determine the right print solution for their business, not their budget. "
HP PageWide Techology which the OEM developed in-house has garnered a reputation as a reliable, scalable print technology which is behind over 140 billion high quality digital pages including those printed in large format and web press environments. On top of this new line of A4 devices, HP also says that it will use its PageWide Technology to redefine the copier market by introducing a new portfolio of A3 multifunction printers early in 2017.
Tim Larson, design principle, DownStream stated, , president, Imaging and Printing, HP Inc., "HP PageWide printers have exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and speed and have enabled us to be more productive in the way we work. We operate in a demanding environment and are in the business of visual design so how things look on paper is important—HP is keeping up with us. "
The latest HP PageWide business portfolio will be available through HP channel partners as well as select retail stores. The new portfolio provides an opportunity for contractual channel partners and MPS engagements by increasing the number of managed devices available to them. Specifically for HP contractual channel partners they are able to leverage the lowest cost of operation in the industry along with the highest capacity supplies for their customers, a three-year print head warranty, higher speeds, and RMPV on some models, and integration with HP JetAdvantage Management and third-party tools.
Beyond the new HP PageWide units, HP also expanded their business printing portfolio with new HP OfficeJet Pro and HP LaserJet printers. HP has worked hard over the last decade to prove that inkjet printing can be an effective tool in office environments and these machines are another good example of this. By opting for inkjet printing over comparable lasers, they can provide savings of as much as 50% for companies. The latest editions to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 series feature HP Print Forward Design which provides high-speed printing in a compact, space-saving unit thereby increasing office productivity while not taking up unnecessary space. Also included with the new units are more advanced manageability and security features, seamless mobile printing, and the opportunity for use with the HP Instant Ink automated supplied delivery program.
The latest HP LaserJets continue on the tradition of providing high quality documents, rapid print speeds, and the excellent value for monochrome laser printing. All of the new units come with Original HP Toner cartridges powered by JetIntelligence thereby"enabling the industry?s most advanced laser printing platform that offer leaner, faster, smarter options to help customers accelerate their business."
The last, but certainly not least of the news items is the new HP Secure Managed Print Services offering which joins an already robust set of MPS solutions. Focused on keeping businesses secure, it demonstrates HP’s commitment to defense-in-depth by providing the most comprehensive device, data, and document security available on the market today. HP Secure MPS enables security experts to help customers secure their print environment with the most robust protections available in the industry as well as maintain printer security over time as threats and compliance requirements change and evolve.
Included among the HP Secure MPS advanced protections are:
Among other changes in HP security, the company released an update to HP JetAdvantage Security Manager software which is recognized as the industry’s only policy-based printer security compliance solution. By opting for this solution, customers are able to see which of their printers are protected by various tools in HP’s security suite including HP Sure Start BIOS protection, whitelisting, and run-time instrusion detection. HP Enterprise printers now also work with SIEM tool Splunk which monitors devices for signs of malicious activity. To begin looking at printer security, business customers can sign-up for HP Quick Assess, a one-hour phone session at no cost to assess the vulnerability of their print fleet (up to 20 devices) by going to www.hp.com/go/quickassess.
