Canon Announces New Monochrome imageCLASS Units
April 1, 2016
Today, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a recorgnized leader in digital imaging unveiled a refreshed lineup of imageCLASS monochrome laser devices. Included among the new units are five single-function printers, four multi-function units, and two standalone copiers. Building upon the long history of quality imageCLASS, the new models include options for anyone from a personal user all the way up to enterprise business employees.
According to Toyotsugu Kuwamura, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "Whether an employee of a corporation, or an individual in a home office, users require intuitive devices that will work as hard as they do. This expansion of the imageCLASS portfolio offers professionals user-friendly devices that provide in-demand features for the fast-paced, modern workplace."
Beginning with small or home environments, Canon has introduced the compact imageCLASS LBP151dw which is designed to give solid desktop printing to home offices and spaces where extra room is hard to come by. The unit has a compact footprint and works with both Apple and Android mobile devices through the Canon PRINT Business application, Mopria Print Service, and Google Cloud Print.
Canon points to data from analyst firm IDC which shows that roughly three-quarters of workers surveyed find as much value in printing from their smartphone or tablet as they do from a PC, and fifteen percent believe printing from mobile is actually more valuable. Through its NFC compatibility, the imageCLASS MF416dw MFP, and imageCLASS D1550 copier enable tap and print functionality for users. Both feature a large 3.5" LCD color touch screen to make it easy to navigate machine menus and functions. Additionally, the two devices, as well as the MF414dw support Wi-Fi Direct connectivity, increasing their appeal and convenience to users. Both new copiers, the imageCLASS D1550 and D1520 provide legal-sized document glass broadening the appeal to companies that routinely use legal-sized paper.
For the next segment of potential customers, those in mid-size organizations and enterprise environments, the imageCLASS LBP251dw and imageCLASS 253dw models offer print speeds of up to 35 ISO ppm and Wi-Fi Direct support, making them solid choices for small and mid-sized businesses. The imageCLASS LBP253dw also incorporates NFC printing into its connectivity options for added convenience.
Among the more robust units are the LBP351dn and LBP352dn models which offer ultra-fast print speeds of 58 and 65 ISO ppm respectively as well as paper capacities as high as 3,600 pages with the addition of up to four optional trays/cassettes. Both of these units also support larger capacity toner cartridges with standard yields reaching about 11,000 pages from a single cartridge and high-yield capacities of up to 25,000 pages. With the increased input capacity and page yields, more work can be accomplished without having to worry about replacing the paper or ink.
Mid-sized or larger organizations can also consider the multifunction imageCLASS MF419dw and MF515dw models which include support for direct printing from mobile devices. The latter established is rated as the fastest imageCLASS MFP released by Canon to date reaching speeds of up to 42 pages per minute. The toner cartridges used with the MF515dw are capable of producing 6,000 pages (standard) or 12,500 pages (high-yield), providing low CPP for users and businesses. Additionally, several of the units mentioned above—MF419dw, MF515dw, LBP253dw, LBP351dn, and LBP352dn—have native support for uniFLOW output management software, increasing their appeal to enterprises which need convenient management of the devices in mixed-fleet environments.
In terms of pricing and availability, the imageCLASS D1550 ($599) and D1520 ($499) copiers, MF416dw ($499) and MF414dw ($399) MFPs, and LBP251dw ($299) and LBP151dw ($169) single function units anticipated to be available in late march for around $210 and the multifunction WF-5694 is set to become available beginning in April 2016.
